Top 100 Guitar Songs of All Time

1 January 2009 5 Comments

I thought this was pretty cool, according to Rolling Stone Magazine here are the top 100 Guitar Songs of all time. Personally, I think this list is okay in general, but misses some key artists, such as Chris Rea, Megadeth, Eric Clapton, Ted Nugent, Steve Vai etc. Frankly, as great as Nirvana are, it is somewhat annoying to see Smells Like Teen Spirit in the top 10. Furthermore, tracks like ‘Under the Bridge’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers should rank far higher. Perhaps a public voting list should exist somewhere, where a more precise list of the top 100 guitar songs of all time may come into existence.

I love that Chuck Berry is number 1!
But many of these songs were over hyped and don’t belong. I agree with most artists but should be different songs like Pink Floyd should be “Comfortably Numb”

I agree with you about Nirvana. Great band, but seriously simple music. Are they basing these are musical virtuosity or popularity?

Isn’t it interesting that most of them are from before the 2000′s. Says alot about music today…Nonetheless, I am not sure where they get the list from but no one is going to agree on it.

I dont agree with this list, cumon 7 nation army at 21 and Nirvana at 10?? What was this guys smoking.. Yeah all the songs is before 2000 but thats not to say our music died in the last 11 years, it only tells me that the person who made the list is old and dont realy know the newer stuff… But yeah the list sucked
