Review: Lighthouse Family is not a group many are familiar with, chances are you’ve heard on or two of their songs on the radio but you didn’t know who they were by. This particular album is the third and unfortunately final album they released (excluding greatest hits and remix albums). Their music is a mixture of pop, r&b and easy listening and i would definitely say it gives off good vibes. Smiley Lighthouse Family consists of Tunde Baiyewu (Vocals) and Paul Tucker (Keyboard). They started the band in 1993 in the UK after meeting at university. Their debut album was released in 1995 and this definitely established them as a popular choice for the easy listening kind of music. It’s all quite relaxed, mainly utilising keyboards and synthesizers with Tundes’ smooth, warm voice over it. In terms of lyrics, their songs cover common topics such as love, relationships and life in general. In some of the songs other instruments such as flutes, etc. are used to add an interesting twist. In fact one or two of the tracks could even be called jazz up to a point.

On this particular album of theirs the most popular songs are ‘Run’, ‘Happy’ and ‘(I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be) Free / One’. Overall i really enjoy this album and Lighthouse family in general. I don’t always feel like them, but it does suit a lot of settings and is very nice when one’s looking for something easy to listen to. It calms one down and as i said earlier gives off very good vibes, the type of music that cheers you up and encourages you to think about the brighter side of life.

Who Would You Recommend This Album To?: Anyone who enjoys easy listening music or who needs something nice to relax and calm them down. (Yes I know this is the R&B section but i guess it could be classified as easy listening R&B Wink)

Rate Album (Out of 10): 8/10
