Review: I decided to choose a very unusual band which I doubt most of you know about. They are known as The Mars Volta and have had a very mixed line-up over the years. This particular album is one of my favourites and features distinct latin rythms, more unusual time-signatures and even dissonant guitar-riffs. As always their lyrics are heavily metaphorical and abstract, yet still tell a specific story. Flea and John Frusciante of The Red Hot Chili Peppers also feature in some of the songs. At first this unusual style of music and bilingual lyrics may put you off, but I find it grows on you and I have come to quite like some of their stuff.

I would recommend it to anyone who likes more alternate music that combines different genres or anyone who wants to try something completely new…
