The Ataris, CrashCarBurn and a whole bunch of exceptional South African talent!

The Ataris in South Africa?

According to Authentic Ideas:

“When planning The Ataris tour we chose CrashCarBurn as the key national support act. Not only are all the members of CrashCarBurn massive fans of The Ataris, but they are the ones who actually started the ball rolling on this tour and got the proverbial ball rolling. And they are undeniably the perfect match for the tour.

We wanted to give as many bands a chance to perform with The Ataris and CrashCarBurn as possible and decided to host a series of Support Search Shows. The concept was first introduced when we brought Underoath to SA last year and we felt that it was the perfect way to choose the best possible bands for future shows. The process is simple. Bands were invited to submit if they wanted to be part of the process. All the submissions were sent to The Ataris to listen to and a few bands per city were chosen to compete. Now it’s up to you. You get to choose which band you feel is best suited to represent your city. A simple sms vote, or flyer vote at the Support Search Shows and the band with the most votes wins and gets to make music history with us. You can’t get much more democratic than that!

CrashCarBurn formed in London in 2005 where they recorded their debut album ‘This City Needs a Hero’ with the Grammy nominated team of Colin Richardson and Matt Hyde. The band returned to SA in 2007 armed with an arsenal of powerful songs and was set to impress audiences from the word go.

CCB’s first single ‘Serenade’ topped many radio stations including 5FM (voted song of the year 2007 on the high 5 at 5) and campus stations across the land. Polished videos and spontaneous live shows saw them selected to play alongside Korn, 30 Seconds to Mars, Good Charlotte and Muse at ‘My Coke Fest ‘08′.

CrashCarBurn made S.A. history last year when they became the first African band to be included on the Vans Warped tour in America. The tour saw them win over fans in 18 cities and perform alongside acts such as Paramore, Angels and Airwaves, Gymclass Heroes and Katy Perry.

Says Garth Barnes, singer for CCB, “The Ataris is a band that we all grew up listening to and their influence on us, personally and as musicians, has been undeniable.” Bizarrely enough, it was Ataris guitarist Chris Swinney who emailed us and expressed interest in visiting South Africa…imagine receiving an email out of the blue from your favorite band telling you they want to come play live in your home town!? We put Chris in touch with Authentic Ideas (the same guys who brought you Blindside and Underoath), and the rest is history!”

The Support Search Shows are designed to give you not only a chance to vote but also to have an amazing night out and possibly win tickets to watch your favourite band, The Ataris and CrashCarBurn live!

And because we know that you can’t always attend every show that you are invited to, we are also offering an SMS Wild Card Vote. The sms votes will be tallied up on the 30th of April. The band with the most sms votes on the morning of the 30th will be invited to perform at the city of its choice with The Ataris, whether they on their Support Search Show or not. So if you’re not coming to one of the SS Shows, then pick up that cell phone and sms 35959 with “Vote (your favourite band name)”. We will randomly choose ten people per city from the sms’s and give them all double tickets to the show of their choice.

Be part of the process. SMS your vote, attend a show, buy your ticket from Computicket and let’s make SA music history together! It’s not often that a platinum selling American punk band tours this country on such an intimate level.

No more haggling for the last shirt in your size, when now you can just walk in and ask for your package.”
