The Ultimate Full Moon Festival

The Ultimate Full Moon Festival marks the first of a whole bunch of music festivals which are well worth attending.
According to an email sent out by Authentic Ideas:
“Maverick Africa is proud to announce the first show in the first of a series of bushveld festivals: The Ultimate Full Moon Festival. 7 – 9 August.
The Ultimate Full Moon Festival is a family style festival featuring a wide arrangement of entertainment, games, food and drink, live bands and deejays over the full moon weekend.
Situated on a game farm in Parys, just 8 kilometres from the N1, the game farm includes ample bushveld camping under huge blue gum trees with ablutions and showers as well as 24 hour security for the comfort of the campers. The festival grounds feature seven massive bonfires that will burn throughout the weekend as the full moon shines down over the grasslands and festivities.
The Ultimate Full Moon Festival kicks off on Friday the 7th of August with top deejays including DJ Franco spinning the best tunes from across the ages for all people to get into the party mood as well as DJ JP renowned for his club performances all around Johannesburg and Gauteng. The first night will be characterized by competitions, games, fun, good music and great food.
Saturday the 8th of August is the main day of the event and features some top live bands including NKD, Mean Mr Mustard, Lonehill Estate, Redhouse, Better Off Blind, Allegra, and Cutting Jade. In between the bands, DJ JP and his crew will keep the crowds on the dance floor, only stopping for the crucial rugby games of the day which will be broadcast on big screens in the marquee. Throughout the day the kids will be entertained with kid’s karaoke, pony rides, go-carts, jumping castles and many games. Plenty of fleamarkets and food stalls throughout the festival grounds and a massive beer tent for parents to relax and enjoy the good times. At night, the gigantic bonfires will be lit up, keeping the people warm and the vibes good.
Sunday the 9th of August will include an ox braai. Dj JP, DJ Franco and the rest of the crew will keep the audience singing a long to good songs over a nice Sunday meal and cold beer.
The Full Moon Festivals are the brain child of Frans Venter from Maverick Africa. Frans and his family trekked through Africa and overseas for four years, visiting many countries and one of his most treasured memories is the amazing full moon beach parties they attended in Thailand. “It was amazing, the full moon would shine over the ocean, the beach would be lit up with gigantic bonfires, and people would dance in all the little bars along the beach and party until the sun came up. It made me realise that South Africa could do with a good party and my dream is to create festivals where everyone is welcome and enjoys themselves in the beautiful African bush, under the wide skies, in a friendly and happy atmosphere.”
Trader’s, fleamarkets, arts and crafts are welcomed to the event. Details can be found on the Maverick Africa website.
Tickets are available through Computicket, select outlets in Parys and through Maverick Africa. Ticket prices are R250 for the weekend, or R100 per day for adults. Kids under five are free and kids from 5 – 15 are just R35. Bulk deals are available through Maverick Africa.”
