HorrorWood Mannequins Interview

With a penchant for sex, blood and rock ‘n roll, Australian metal band HorrorWood Mannequins are more than capable of scaring the wig off your grandmother, as they are to rocking the hell out of any venue that they may fester. Music Review managed to catch up with lead singer Audri Medicate for a quick Q&A.

If you could describe HWM in one word, what would it be?
Debauchery.

That’s always a good characteristic for a metal band to have. So why should somebody attend a HWM show or listen to your music?
Because we are the answer to your cancer.

I’ve picked up on an obvious Wednesday 13/Murderdolls influence on your sound and image. What other bands have influenced HWM?
Hed PE, Motley Crue, Dope, Static-X and many others.

Nice variety there. What has been the highlight of the band’s musical career so far?
The never-ending supply of the three P’s – piss, pot and pussy!

Interesting answer. So if you could tour with any other band in the world, who would it be?
Motley Crue.

I guess it makes sense with your never-ending thirst for piss, pot and pussy. Next question, do you think the alternative scene has become too clogged up with deathcore bands and has this impacted on your shows at all?
Yeah. We have been playing with a lot more deathcore bands lately, but I can’t really say that it’s clogged up the scene. It’s actually just opened up another avenue.

Nobody seems to be getting signed to record labels these days. What would be your advice for a band trying to break through?
DIY all the way. With all the new technology out there you can do a lot of it yourself. Self promo is always good as well.

Danzig.

Who’s scarier, Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees?
Jason all the way! We don’t support some pussy that comes after you while you’re asleep.

If you could dropkick Miley Cyrus or Ashley Tisdale, who would you choose and why?
We would have to go with Miley Cyrus. That way we can get closer to the fuck that started the problem – Billy Ray!

Haha, I like that last answer. What can your fans look forward to hearing from HWM in the near future?
We are currently recording our new album, so sit tight ghouls and ghosts.
