Review: The Strat Pack Live In Concert DVD
Jason watches The Strat Pack Live In Concert DVD.

Back in 1954, Leo Fender designed and produced the world’s first Fender Stratocaster. This legendary instrument eventually went on to become one of the world’s most popular and copied solid body electric guitars, and of course, became the choice guitar of many of the world’s most famous guitarists. In 2004, top guitarists from around the world met to play in an all star concert, which was held at London’s Wembley stadium, to honor the Stratocaster’s 50 year anniversary.
In theory, a live DVD capturing the essence of the Stratocaster sounds awesome, but coming straight off the bat, I was a little disappointed with the line-up. I guess, everyone has their own tastes and likes but I do feel that there are most certainly many other exceptionally talented players that just should have been there. Also there is a very strong country influence early on in the concert which I do feel may put many people off. But I do understand that a very large part of the history of the Stratocaster was in country music, so naturally it has to be part of the concert.
However, all in all, it is actually a very enjoyable watch, and don’t get me wrong, there is more than enough awesome guitar playing to keep you entertained. Songs played by Hank Marvin, Gary Moore and David Gilmour come to mind. My favorite performance was 6PM played by Phil Manzanera, just brilliant! The best part of this concert though is the x-rated, uncut, in-your-face guitar porn! And yes there is just tons of it here!
If you are a fan of the Stratocaster this will be in your collection all ready. If you are looking at this because you are a fan of one of the artists, perhaps just have a glance through the rest of the lineup to see if it is worth it.
Looking forward to the 100 year anniversary!
