Review: Steel Panther – Feel The Steel
Sergio reviews the hilarious Steel Panther’s Feel the Steel.
Artist Name: Steel Panther
Album Name: Feel the Steel
Year: 2009
Genre: Glam Metal
Metal hasn’t been this fun (or silly) since Spinal Tap. Steel Panther’s Feel the Steel is the ultimate parody of glam metal!
The lyrics are offensive, rude, disgusting, sexist, vile, and absolutely freaking hilarious – if you’re a fan of South Park, where absolutely nothing is sacred, Steel Panther will become your new gods of sarcasm.
Tracks, such as ‘Death to All But Metal’, can’t help but evoke a smile. I won’t repeat the lines for our sensitive readers, but they pretty much tear into everyone involved in the commercial radio scene – I must admit I threw the horns up more than a few times in accord.
Their appearance and lyrics may be a big laugh, but these guys are by no means a joke band. Steel Panther has some serious musicianship in the group. Michael Starr’s pipes are complimented by Stix Zadinia and Lexxi Foxxx’s groove-rhythmic partnership, as lead guitarist Satchel’s shreds like a maniac guitar ninja – putting many so-called “serious” bands to shame.
If you still don’t believe they’re legit, just look at some of the guests lending their skills to Feel the Steel: Corey Taylor of Slipknot, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Scott Ian of Anthrax, and Justin Hawkins of The Darkness fame.
Steel Panther is recommended for anyone who fancies a laugh and a break from generic lyrical content. Fans of Motley Crue, Poison and Beautiful Creatures will love Feel the Steel in an instant.
Best Tracks: ‘Death to All But Metal’, ‘Community Property’, and ‘Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)’
