Taylor Swift’s Label Defends Her Grammy Performance
Label CEO defends his starlet from the big bad journalists.
A lot of criticism has been directed at Taylor Swift after her off-key duet with Stevie Nicks at this year’s Grammy Awards. However, CEO of Swift’s label Big Machine Records, Scott Borchetta, has come out and defended his star’s performance.
“Maybe she’s not the best technical singer, but she’s probably the best emotional singer. Everybody else who gets up there and is technically perfect, people don’t seem to want more of it,” he said to The Tennessean.
Furthermore, he told the AP, “This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It’s not about that technically perfect performance.”
Has someone informed Borchetta that part of being a singer is actually knowing how to sing on key?

Agreed.
Emotion and feeling is great, but if it is not backed up with technical ability and performance, you might as well not bother.
Its like saying, “My Formula 1 Ferrari looks so amazing but can’t race for sh*t” !!!
Pathetic excuse from her label.
So… In essence he just said she’s worse than an idols finalist?
hmm..she does not have the best voice, but you dont win a grammy for nothing..so people like her. i think she’s lovely
She’s so beautiful, she doesn’t have to sing on key.
