Spinal Tap Moments of the Decade

Many artists do or say stupid things, but sometimes they go a bit too far and become parodies of themselves. Here are some of the silliest moments of the past decade.

Glenn Danzig Gets Knocked Out
North Side Kings were scheduled to play one night with Danzig, but due to certain organisational issues, they were eventually bumped from the event. Irritated that his band had driven 6 hours for absolutely nothing, Danny Marianinho confronted Danzig backstage and called him “an asshole”.

Being the tough guy he is and trying to impress his fans, Danzig slammed Marianinho against the wall and shouted the harshest words he could think of: “Fuck you, motherfucker!”

Taking no prisoners, Marianinho swung his gigantic fist into Danzig’s face – knocking him out cold in front of his own fans. To Danzig’s dismay, someone also managed to immortalise the event, by recording and posting it on YouTube for everyone’s enjoyment.

Glenn, I hope you’ve learnt your lesson – never pick a fight with a guy bigger than you.

Ashlee Simpson’s Lip Synch on Live Television
It was a moment that surely made Milli Vanilli smile. During a performance on Saturday Night Live (please note the key word being ‘live’), Ashlee Simpson was supposed to sing ‘Autobiography’, however, as she began to gyrate, she immediately went into another song, ‘Pieces of Me’– incredibly though, her microphone was still at her side and her mouth was shut.

Instead of rushing off the stage after this lip synching shenanigan, Simpson decided to search deep within and react on natural instinct – by performing a hillbilly hoedown *snicker*.

The media ripped her to pieces and she did what any other pop star would’ve done – blame the band and her *cough* bullshit *cough* acid reflux.

Oasis Split
The Gallagher brothers have never been the sanest or most rational fellows on the planet, and their fallout proved to be no different.

On 28 August 2009, the brothers reportedly had an altercation backstage, which lead to Liam breaking Noel’s guitar. After probably holding his guitar like a fallen soldier, Noel stormed out of the building and quit the band later that night.

Since then, the brothers have taken out the handbags and had a go at each other through the press – the latest verbal shot coming from Liam who claimed that Oasis was a shit name.  Funnily enough, it’s only taken him nearly 2 decades to figure this out.

Kanye West Acts like a Douche
Taylor Swift was accepting her award for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when Kanye stormed the stage, grabbed the microphone, and said, “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”

The onslaught of bad publicity and public outrage managed to turn Kanye’s moment of pure douche into a legendary piece of music news. Hell, it even prompted US President, Barack Obama, to refer to him as a “jackass” – off the record, of course.
