Lark

LARK’s music scales from glitch-opera to alternative-electro with thrashing alternative influences, coupled with abstract and poetic lyricisms, LARK offer a sonic delight mostly enjoyed by those who are partial to the more sophisticated style of music making.

In their 4 years together LARK won over a largely uneducated audience in the realm of glitch-electro, sealing their reputation as one of the great alternative bands of South Africa by winning the SAMA award for ‘Best Alternative’ album. They were invited to tour Germany, Poland, Reunion and the Seychelles and went on to be one of SA’s must have headlining acts at major music festivals such as Oppikoppi, Splashy Fen and RAMFEST.

After a time Paul Ressel (Producer for LARK) felt it was time to leave South Africa and go to the UK and the band had to break up. In 2009 RAMFEST invited LARK to perform for the first time in a year and to do a national tour, no one expected the level of support they received on that tour. The band released a live DVD titled ‘A Dagger and A Feather’ of one of their greatest stage performances of their career at the Pavilion Theatre in Cape Town, which is currently being released in all Look n Listen stores.

The 2010 RAMFEST will see LARK taking to the stage once more to deliver their latest musical offerings along with some re worked tracks as well as launching their unreleased never performed live single VAMPIRE on their latest release titled V. The single also features the unreleased track BRAVE and a new track VAMPIRE along with a destructive remix of BRAVE by electro producer HAEZER and a remix of VAMPIRE by acid jazz tripper, Mr Sakitumi. Both recordings were mixed and mastered by Sound and Motion Studios who sponsored the entire recording, making this release possible. The single will be for sale at the shows only for R60.
