Review: Creed Live DVD
Sergio reviews Creed Live.
Title: Creed Live
Year: 2010
Genre: Hard Rock
Creed Live is the DVD that has broken world records for having the most number of cameras (239) at one show. If that wasn’t enough, it was also filmed using “big freeze” technology, so there are many parts which look like they came directly out of The Matrix film series.
The live performance section of the disc features over 90 minutes and 17 tracks of absolute top-notch brilliance. In true rock star fashion, the performance explodes with a combination of bright light and fireworks, as Creed rocks the crowd with hits from yesteryears and even their brand new single (‘Overcome’). I actually get goosebumps every time I watch the crowd sing back the choruses of ‘With Arms Wide Open’ and ‘My Sacrifice’ – it’s just one of those immortal concert moments.
While Scott Stapp has a phenomenal voice built in the same mould as Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, I still believe that guitarist Mark Tremonti is the real star behind the band’s much beloved sound – his licks and solos are the ideal balance between hard and soft rock, and what ultimately creates the basis for exceptional and timeless songs.
The documentary side of the DVD is also very intriguing and shows the amount of work that was put into setting up such a huge production. No cost was spared and it’s something you have to see to believe – the wow factor will drop jaws.
Other extras include the music video for ‘Overcome’ and a photo gallery of the show – neat little bonuses.
In conclusion, Creed Live was extremely nostalgic and fantastic renaissance from one of the 90s greatest rock bands. The production is of the highest quality and worth every cent.
Best Tracks: ‘Overcome’, ‘With Arms Wide Open’, and ‘My Sacrifice’
