Review: Delerium – Remixed: The Definitive Collection
A review of Delerium’s Remixed: The Definitive Collection.
Artist Name: Delerium
Album Name: Remixed: The Definitive Collection
Year: 2010
Genre: Electronic/Dance
The Canadian electronic group, Delerium, have been around for 23 years, but really only became mainstream club sensations once their track ‘Silence’ – which featured Sarah McLachlan’s vocals – started to be remixed by prolific DJs, such as Tiësto and Airscape. Needless to say, Delerium-mania swept the dance floors for years after.
Giving his own spin on their classics, popular house DJ Niels van Gogh has remixed the definitive Delerium tracks for your enjoyment. Thankfully, he’s still kept much of the original industrial, dark ambient sounds – with only a minor infusion of his trademark house and electronic beats. In other words, there are more similarities to Skinny Puppy than actual whistle-blowing-glow-sticks-in-the-air dance music – thank the gods of music for that!
In conclusion, it’s a respectful addition to the fascinating Delerium story, which will undoubtedly reignite your interest in this extraordinary industrial-tinged, dark pop group.
Best Tracks: ‘Silence’, ‘Send Me An Angel’, and ‘After All’
70/100
