Review: Anti-Flag – For Blood And Empire
Review of Anti-Flag’s For Blood and Empire.
Artist Name: Anti-Flag
Album Name: For Blood and Empire
Year: 2006
Genre: Punk Rock
Politically charged punk. Sound familiar? Yup, seems every band is doing it nowadays and this album is no different – although Anti-Flag have been doing this shtick for quite a while.
If you’re looking for a turbo-charged punk cacophony with strong anti-Dubbya lyrics, For Blood and Empire will be your weapon of mass destruction. Built around the typical power-chord sound, with a delicious slice of ska and good old fashioned rock n’ roll influences, the guitar work isn’t bad for a punk record. Throw in some slapstick bass, Ferrari-charged drumming, and Justin Sane’s trademark whiny vocals and you’ll feel like you are in the middle of a Tony Hawk videogame – completely fun, but never monumental.
While it isn’t a bad album, it won’t hit home with a lot of people. Personally, I’d still recommend any Rise Against album, before you pick up For Blood and Empire.
Best Tracks: ‘I’d Tell You But…’, ‘The Press Corpse’, ‘This Is The End’, and ‘Cities Burn’Â
