Clout / Ballyhoo / Mean Mr Mustard / Diamond Dogs – Team Up!

4 May 2010 3 Comments

2 incredible voices; 5 big personalities; years of experience…

One could easily refer to The Alter Irving Band as a true ‘super-group’, considering that all 5 members have each paid their dues with other well-known South African bands.

And it’s easy to determine that with a ‘super-group’ this great, the release of their debut-album, Chained To The Wind, is sure to be an outstanding success. The group are having their official launch on Wednesday, 28th of April at The Victory Theatre.

Cindy Alter, who once wowed audiences as the charismatic front lady of Clout; and Stewart Irving, the former Ballyhoo front man; better than ever, have teamed up as the leading vocals in this star group.

Often these two perform as a two-piece acoustic outfit, but fortune has favoured them further with the joining up of a somewhat fantastic band of merry men to provide the instrumental accompaniment –Leon Shaw (drums) from Mean Mr Mustard; Arno West (lead guitar) from The Diamond Dogs; and well-known session musician, Dawid Visser.

The 11-track album is a fusion of modern country and folk rock. This genre is interwoven through their amazing repertoire of original tracks self penned by Cindy and Stewart and their pure class performances. The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Garth Potterton and Andries Botha.

Their first single to radio was the classic hit, Jolene, which has been followed up by Chained To The Wind – an upbeat track about a musician who is following in his father’s footsteps and can’t stay in one place for too long.

The album is now available in music outlets nationwide.
