Jesse Clegg’s ‘When I Wake Up’ Goes Gold
Jesse Clegg goes gold.
In a star studded event that took place on the 2nd of June at The Venue in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, JESSE CLEGG was presented with his first Gold Award for selling in excess of 20 000 units of his debut album ‘When I Wake Up’. ‘When I Wake Up’ was released on the 1st of October 2008 and features the hit singles ‘Today’, ‘Heartbreak Street’, ‘Girl Lost in The City’ and ‘End Of The Rainbow’ which have all received great coverage on radio and television nationwide. Accompanied by an extraordinary live show which has been taken across South Africa and abroad, JESSE CLEGG’s rise to fame has been a dedicated and successful one.
Being one of the most hard-working artists in South Africa at such a young age has paid off for JESSE CLEGG and all culminates in the Gold Award which was presented by David Gresham (CEO of The David Gresham Record Company) to Jesse in last night’s ceremony. Jesse surprised everyone when he asked David to stay on stage and presented him with a gold award to the company thanking David and the team at DGR for all the hard work and dedication that they have put towards the album.
JESSE CLEGG has definitely been one of the most talked about artists in the last year in South Africa. Being nominated in many prestigious awards ceremonies and performing alongside the world’s best musicians, Jesse has risen to the top and with a new album on the cards; more awards are expected to come his way.
Jesse Clegg will be performing at The Fringe at the Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg from the 17th to the 20th of June. Tickets are now available through Computicket.
Press release from The David Gresham Record Company.
[MusicReview attended the event and wish to congratulate Jesse and The David Gresham Record Company once again on this fantastic achievement. The organisation and venue were absolutely superb, as was comedian Chris Forrest, who kept the audience in stitches. A great local event of top international standard. Well done to all those involved!]
