Smirnoff Experience Signs Global Sensation, DJ Sasha!

DJ Sasha set to headline Smirnoff Experience.

With memories of Smirnoff Experience™ Mashup Street, the world’s top music collaboration platform held in Johannesburg in May, still burning strongly in the minds of South African event-goers, Smirnoff announced today that it has secured another global sensation, DJ Sasha, to headline Smirnoff Experience™ in Cape Town and Johannesburg in July.  No stranger to the South African music scene, Sasha last toured Johannesburg and Cape Town in February 2009 when over 8000 fans experienced the unique sound delivered by the British producer who remains one of the world’s most popular dance acts.

Sasha is recognised as one of the world’s most innovative icons of the electronic genre thanks to his ability to propel listeners into the future of electronic music by constructing forward-thinking concept albums and live events that blur the lines between artist and DJ.

He has established himself as a formidable and in-demand remixer by reconstructing tracks from an incredible array of artists such as Depeche Mode, Madonna, Seal, UNKLE, The Chemical Brothers, BT, Thom Yorke (Radio Head) and Orbital. The Grammy nominated artist won ‘Best Soundtrack Award’ at the 2008 X-Dance Awards after scoring the soundtrack for surf film, New Emissions of Light and Sound.

There seems to be no limit to the talent and abilities that Sasha has and South Africans can brace themselves for a performance that will transport them to a new musical space. The two-show Smirnoff Experience™ tour will hit Cape Town on Friday 9th July before heading north to Johannesburg on Saturday 10th July 2010.

Smirnoff Experience™ Cape Town will be held at Atmospheer, the club that has played host to many of the world’s leading DJ’s, including Paul Oakenfold, Fatboy Slim and Paul van Dyk.  Support acts in Cape Town include Dean Fuel, Ivan Turanjanin and Chris Jack. In Johannesburg, Smirnoff Experience™, with Sasha, hits the decks on the outside dance floor at Truth in Midrand. A massive line-up is planned across four dance floors, including three additional international acts: Franky Rizardo from the Netherlands, Federico Molinari and Barem, both from Argentina.

They join a strong South African DJ line-up that includes Roger Goode, Roger D’Lux, Ricardo Da Costa, Guy Herman, Jon S, Louis, Speedy, Morgan and Eddy Virgo, to name but a few.
