Spirytus’ Album To Be Released On September 13th Via Quick Fist Records

23 August 2010 No Comment

‘Ladies and Gentleman… Spirytus! Remember that f**king name!’

So said metal superstar Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), calling out from the stage at their London Astoria gig in 2009, having just jammed ‘Full Nelson’ with Spirytus frontman Ryan Walton. And this was no hollow endorsement, as Limp Bizkit and Walton had had a previous jamming encounter at the Download Festival only weeks before.

So what was it that made a metal superstar like Durst single out Spirytus for such praise?

Maybe it’s their Korn crashing headfirst into Faith No More sound… a sound that manages to remain compelling and infectious whist still being technically adventurous.

Favouring the dirty, dripping tones that can be wrangled from seven and eight string guitars; pounding funk-inspired bass lines; pile-driving drums and bone crushing vocals, Spirytus set out to deliver something a little bit extra than your average metal band.

And the Nottingham based quintet have already attracted the attentions of a number of other bands, nabbing support slots with the likes of Hed PE, American Head Charge and Shadows Fall.

A country mile away from the pop infused mainstream bluster that is so in vogue at the moment, Spirytus wholeheartedly embrace METAL! From the machine gun double kick drumming to the light speed soloing.

In fact, even when they covered The Prodigy’s ‘Breathe’, they ended up creating a song that sounded like a roaring metal classic.

Produced by Jason Wilcock (Fightstar, You Me At Six, Cars On Fire etc), the self titled album is a cluster bomb of intense blasts that will leave you breathless.
