Crickey.. someone please send them back.. when is SA getting some real rock acts???seriously!!
This is by far the best news and best international band to come to south africa. @ tyrone, no offence, but before you make that sort of judgement, listen to first 3 albums, im sure all youve heard is what has been played on the radio. This band is talented and dynamic.
About bloody time, can’t wait. @ Tyrone, I would like to hear who in your opinion you think is better?
BRILLIANT news! Now, the next step: Please make sure Computicket is not the ticket supplier! Anyone else but them! When tickets go on sale and their site crashes (let’s be honest, this will, undeniably, ABSOLUTELY happen) how on earth am I going to get a ticket? Drive to the nearest Computicket and que for hours? Time-consuming, wasteful and plain unnecessary. Please please can we have a ticket seller that will not mar the Kings of Leon experience?!
@Jess i can assume u are referring to because of the times and youth and young manhood and aha shake heartbreak ..i do tend to give bands the benefit of the doubt and will listen to older albums because 90% of all bands first albums are the best. i haven’t managed to get my hands on the holy roller Novocaine EP unfortunately.. so i have listened to the older stuff… and unfortunately Jess i will admit to the band have a talented voice.. the rest of the band is extremely one dimensional, they lack significant depth, the overly simplistic guitar work, weak guitar solos or lack their of, bass lines that are somewhat monotonous.. the two key factors that we pivotal to the success of their garage sound was the drummer and the singer…one way or another their commercial success has been defined and no amount of squabbling on a web page is going to change anything.. end of the day its a matter of personal preference, different strokes for different folks.. i would however like to see some rock fans with taste!!
@Adrian, lets break it down brother, Kings Of Leon – 4 piece all male hard rock/ garage rock outfit. bands i would consider of the same nature but mountains of caliber ahead of KOL paramore, greenday, red hot chili peppers, 3 doors down, tool. a perfect circle, foo fighters. and if you want to take a look at yester year – beatles, the clash, the who, sex pistols.. i can go on and on and on and on and on man.. i have always believed that no1 can force musical taste on a person.. perhaps influence, and u can ask yourself what is “rock” its simply a word that implies a connection and its that connection that differentiates us from all the other mindless drones that will prefer pop, rnb, rave, house and all the other types of music, and i still feel that radio plays a big influence on musical taste and defining a generation that has spawned the KOL and 30 seconds to mars generation of rock acts that bring in these uber young crowds, that look like rockers, dress like rockers..wna play instruments like rockers.. but cannot think like a rocker or doesnt not understand what it means to have freedom of thought, individuality.. my best mates cousin once told me something i will always remember..”There is no room for free thinkers in this world” and when i see bands like this its a constant reminder of how true that really is!!!
tyrone dude you have too much time! well done on googling that info ha ha! yeah kings! guess us durbanites will be heading to CPT or JHB coz we only get the really bad concerts!
@marzi.. haha.. sadly i pulled up my music collection wrote the post.. was there anything in that post that Google cud have given me, past wat i cudnt find on the albums??i was a fan of the ballad use somebody, it prompted me to listen to the album, someone said that the earlier stuff was better so made an effort to get the albums…listened and yeah its was not my bag chips…ish i feel your pain!!the first cokefest was it for dbn.. i was one of the like handful of Indians at that show in jhb.. so i didnt expect a huge turn out in Durban.. sadly there is a just a market for rock music there in durbs.. but there is this awesome band from there called mad love.. try and check them out! and city bowl mizers are from there.. so there is hope!!!alternatively.. i believe busta rhymes and i think its TI or T-Pain are coming to durbs..it will save u the trip to jhb or CT.. haha
The details and dates have been released!

@Tyrone – seriously?
You go slagging off KOL fans for having no taste and you list bands like Paramore and a Perfect Circle that can be labeled simple generic rock, at best. Bands using good melodies with no element of surprise and recycled lyrics – forgivable but yaaaaawn.
Then you mention 3 doors down?!? That is commercial radio friendly pop rock for the masses at its finest!
Agreed, 30 Seconds to Mars are the biggest insult to the rock genre since Nickleback got a Grammy nomination.
However, to relate KOL to 30 seconds goes to prove the extent of your lack of prior listening and investigation. KOL influences are quite obviously deeply rooted in bluegrass and southern music not the “garage sound” you claim it to be. This again leaves me questioning your sound judgment (pun intended).
Bottom line is if you don’t like the band then so be it, but don’t be a hater on public forums.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! FINALLY!!!!
CAN NOT WAIT!!! SO EXCITED! I thought this day would never come!
@sarahdbn i do admire your attitude and atleast a sound rationale to your argument…agreed bands like paramore are extremely formulaic and generic, there is a significant difference of togetherness btwn KOL and paramore..unfortunately i have onli watched live dvds of both bands and in terms of creating energy and intimacy, imho they are worlds apart… i can see the southern rock elements but i feel like there is a blue grass element to it.. try listening to some of the older more southern country 3 doors down stuff and some of their lynard skynard stuff.. they are a decent band.. its onli the rubbish that makes the radio..
truth be told i care not for your validation of my judgment..i do respect your honesty.. needless to say, i can see u like 30 seconds to mars as much as i do, but practice what you preach about refraining from slating bands on a public forum… and perhaps i will take what you are saying seriously..a public forum.. a caucus of like minded people sharing thoughts and ideas.. that is indicative of free speech.. if you dont like my opinion.. build a bridge.. and i think u know the rest..
@ All KOL fans, i apologize for creating unrest on the post.. i was merely stating an observation and an opinion.. i do hope you enjoy the shows.. and i think its great that SA is atleast being noticed and this will b the continuation of many international acts to come..

[...] the time of writing, U2 is totally sold out but there are still tickets available for Rammstein and Kings of Leon. There are some decent price options too, that won’t break the bank. Get them while you still [...]
@ Tyrone. When I saw the bands you would prefer to see touring SA instead of KOL I broke down laughing. You can’t be serious dude.
Green Day haven’t made a decent album since the 90′s. RHCP with their fusion of rock and honky rap only wrote a hand full of decent songs mostly in the 90′s and early 2000′s.
At this point in time KOL are one of the most respected bands in the universe, playing music for the love of music, NOT regurgitating the cud for the fat bottom line and the fame. They sell out their concerts well in advance worldwide and sell more albums that the rock idol, popstar, bubblegum bands that you mentioned.
You are entitled to have your opinion, it only reflects on you…
No doubt you will respond, with you big words and lack of grammar. I look forward to it.
“…you will respond, with you big words and lack of grammar” – LOL at the epic dissing fail by Adrian. Hypocrite much?
