Chevelle Postpone South African Tour; The Used Take Their Place

28 June 2011 14 Comments

According to a statement released by Hilltoplive today, Chevelle will not be hitting our shores anymore. Here is the statement:

Chevelle South African tour Postponement:
It is with heavy hearts that Chevelle band management, Creative Arts Agency international and Hilltoplive announce that the forthcoming tour dates in South Africa will have to be postponed…

The band initially committed to the dates knowing that it might be a push for time to complete their new album. However the recording process has taken longer than hoped for and therefore left no choice but to postpone the tour for now. Hilltoplive will be making information on this tour available as soon as a workable date has been found.

Note from Chevelle – “Obviously everyone is really disappointed; there was such enthusiasm and support from all over South Africa and it’s a country we all wanted to see. But we will get there soon.” – Chevelle”

In their place, The Used will be replacing them for Oppikoppi on 7 August and performing at the Grand West Casino, Cape Town on 8 August.

[...] we know a lot of people are bleak that Chevelle bailed on South Africa (sadly, it seems to be a regular occurrence here), but we’re trying to look at the bright side [...]

@ Lee, Do you really think bands cancel nowhere else in the world.
Really? REALLY REALLY? are you just pretending to be from Springs?

    LMAO @Mika!
Being from Durban, I can’t feel just a bit bleak fullstop. Nobody ever comes here. Its like we’re the ginger cousin that doesnt wash! Seriously? Meh.

To quicky cap, Bands cancel everywhere…. all over the world….. its crazy expensive to tour SA…. and super easy to make a loss money wise.
