Ou Est Le Swimming Pool

A little over a year ago in north London, after honing his skills in various musical projects, founding member Charles Haddon moved to Camden in 2008 where he met locals Joe Hutchinson and Caan Capan. Within a month of the trio’s paths first crossing, ‘Ou Est Le Swimming Pool’ was born. The band were just starting to make music together when they met production wizard Anders Kallmark who instantly became intrigued by the music they were creating and requested permission to come aboard.

Citing their combined influences as the likes of electro expeditionaries The Pet Shop Boys, Yazoo and hip hop illuminati The Beastie Boys; the trio favour keyboards and synths over guitars which has lead to them being described as the UK’s answer to Passion Pit. In their short time together, the band have learned how to really captivate a crowd, they are pure electro-pop geniuses that really come to life on stage. Their upbeat pop-hooked tracks and adrenalin-filled sets have already earned them considerable interest from all the right areas as well as inclusions on host of noteworthy line-ups…

Over the past 10 months or so, the band has shared stages with the likes Sam Sparro, The Enemy, Reverend And The Makers, Mr Hudson and Cypress Hill. They have also been doing a series of headline gigs throughout London, performed at Lovebox, Beach Brake Live festival as well as playing three slots at Glastonbury festival. Other festival slots to still come this summer include Summer Sundae and Bestival.

The outfit’s somewhat unconventional moniker came about from Charlie and Joe trying to come up with an original sounding name to attach to their innovative sound by juxtaposing words and phrases from different languages and stumbling across the interesting combination. Finding it amusing at the time they have since discovered it has had a similar effect on everyone that hears it, which has lead to the name sticking.

Due this Autumn, “Dance The Way I Feel” is an absolute triumph. It can only be described as the essential feel-good summer tune of 2009. It does exactly what it says on the tin, providing you with a great beat to go crazy to, in clubs or even in your bedroom, it is a great party started and guaranteed to get you dancing!

The band has achieved a hell of a lot in less than a year and their debut album is already written. The album title has already been decided and it is rumoured to have the greatest album name ever, but the band is unwilling to reveal the surprise just yet, so you’ll just have to wait!

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool have been hotly tipped as the new sensation of 2009, winning the hearts of all they play to, with tastemakers from London and Paris banging on their door, the band are ready to unleash hell! Watch this space.
