Van Diens Af

Hailing from the small sleepy town of Secunda in the Mpumalanga province, VAN DIENS AF are creating quite a buzz with their fresh rocking new approach to the Afrikaans rock scene. Blending a unique mix of rock and punk complimented with catchy choruses and memorable songs, the band are ready to take on the popular Afrikaans rock genre by storm.

Formed in 2008, William Jonker, Anton Van Wyk & Kevin Curry all worked together at the same manufacturing plant and whenever they had time off from work they would get their instruments out and jam hence the name VAN DIENS AF coming to mind for the band. The band rehearsed and started writing their own material then went onto record their debut album at Gunston Records where Jared Gunston (Knave, Chromium) stepped into the producer’s chair. The pre-production demos caught the attention of the A&R committee at David Gresham Records and eventually led to VAN DIENS AF being signed by DGR.

The band’s die hard commitment and creative talent is undeniable and they have already played alongside some of the country’s biggest acts. Their first single ‘Hou My Vas (Einde Van ‘n Hartbreek)’ is expected to create quite a buzz across all Afrikaans rock radio formats and the ever popular MK channel on DSTV.

The latest addition to the band is Karel Dugdale on the bass guitar. VAN DIENS AF are set to blaze a trail through the live circuit in South Africa and be on the lips of all Afrikaans rock fans around the country. Their debut album ’Dit Wat Was’ will be released and marketed by The David Gresham Record Company soon.
